Paper Two Writing Process

Writing this second paper was, surprisingly, a much more enjoyable and smooth process. This time around, I approached the topic with more enthusiasm and determination to create a paper that would truly reflect what I wanted to convey. I was surprised by my new found positive approach with writing this paper since the topic was rather complex to tackle, but perhaps it was this perceived challenge that sparked the new motivation in me.

The main change I made was to cover the assignment and fulfill the prompt while integrating my own take on the subject. In my case, I highlighted the theme of identity within our book by focusing on the psychological aspect of identity. Psychology and the enlightenment psychology brings on subjects are of great interest to me so writing this paper became personally fulfilling. Normally, I simply go along with whatever the prompt is, not making the effort to engage and analyze the topic/material. This time around, I used the prompt as a chance to be creative and to write a paper I was excited about covering.

In addition, I was more open to changing and revising my paper after receiving advice and feedback. The initial paragraph structures, highlighted themes and ideas of my rough draft have genuinely evolved for the better after hearing what people had to say. On my last paper, I was a bit more hesitate to change anything; I didn't want to “start all over” or go back over the entire thing once I thought I was finished. Editing my paper this time was still a bit tricky, but well worth it; I believe it conveys my ideas more thoroughly than my previous papers.

Overall, I've learned that I write better when I take a prompt and answer it while integrating in my own inspiration and interests. Paper topics are open to interpretation and adding your own flair can really make the whole writing process go by amazingly smooth. Also, truly listening, absorbing, and using the feedback (shout out to all those who read my paper, thank you!!) from others is essential to writing a balanced paper. Hopefully, I will be able to approach the rest of my papers with this mindset and positive attitude.
